Reflecting on the events that proved to be a hit in Alaska as 2024 winds down, we start with the Sundown Alaska Music and Arts Festival which took place on June 7th through June 9tg at Cuddy Park in Anchorage.
The three-day festival featured both local and visiting artists across genres such as EDM, hip-hop, and indie and it also features food trucks and local vendors along with free carnival rides provided by Golden Wheel Amusement.
“We’ve stayed committed to it being an all ages event,” Showdown Alaska Community outreach director Natalie Treadwell said, according to Anchorage Press. “A lot of us grew up here in Alaska and didn’t have opportunities to see music when we were younger.”
“One of the big focuses of our team is bringing up all these big national acts. We know the cost to visit the Lower 48 to see those acts is increasingly high these days,” Treadwell said.
Those acts included over 40 big names and included headliners such as Diplo, Tech N9ne, Sheck Wes, The Devil Wears Prada, and Alaska’s own Portugal The Man.
“This is something that’s here to stay… We’re really looking for the long haul for this event,” Treadwell said.
